Cookie Policy

Last updated: 10 January 2026

1. What Are Cookies

Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. They allow the site to remember information about your visit — such as your preferred settings or the pages you have viewed — and can be read by the originating website on subsequent visits.

Cookies are not programs and cannot carry viruses or install software on your device. They are a standard part of how the web functions and are used by the vast majority of websites you visit.

Oranev Letters uses cookies to understand how visitors engage with editorial content and to maintain the functionality of the cookie consent system. We do not use cookies for advertising, cross-site tracking, or the sale of data to third parties.

2. Categories of Cookies We Use

Strictly Necessary

These cookies are required for the website to function. They include the cookie that stores your consent preferences so the banner does not reappear on every page visit. These cookies cannot be disabled via the consent banner because the site cannot function correctly without them.

Cookie Name Purpose Duration
oranev_consent Stores cookie consent preference 12 months
Analytics (Optional)

These cookies collect anonymised information about how visitors use the site — which pages are read most, how long readers stay on each article, and whether they reach an article from the homepage or directly. This data is used to understand editorial performance and does not identify individual visitors.

These cookies are only placed if you select "Accept All" or "Accept Partial" on the consent banner. They are not placed if you select "Functional Only".

Cookie Name Purpose Duration
_oranev_session Session analytics identifier Session
_oranev_visit Counts return visits 6 months
Third-Party (Embedded Content)

The contact page includes a Google Maps embed. When this embed loads, Google may place cookies on your device independently under Google's own privacy and cookie policies. We have no control over these cookies, but we load the embed with a restricted referrer policy to limit data passed on navigation.

These cookies are only present if you visit the contact page and the map embed loads. You can prevent the embed from loading by disabling JavaScript in your browser settings.

3. How to Manage Your Cookie Preferences

You can update your cookie preferences at any time by clicking "Cookie Settings" in the footer of any page on oranev.info. This reopens the consent banner and allows you to change your selection.

You can also manage cookies directly in your browser. Most modern browsers allow you to:

  • View the cookies currently stored by a website
  • Delete individual cookies or all cookies for a site
  • Block cookies from specific websites or from all third parties
  • Receive a notification before a cookie is placed

Disabling all cookies will prevent the consent preference from being saved, meaning the banner will reappear on each visit. It may also affect how embedded content such as maps displays.

4. Browser-Specific Guidance

Each browser handles cookie settings differently. Instructions for common browsers are available at:

  • Google Chrome: Settings > Privacy and Security > Cookies and other site data
  • Mozilla Firefox: Options > Privacy and Security > Cookies and Site Data
  • Safari: Preferences > Privacy > Manage Website Data
  • Microsoft Edge: Settings > Cookies and site permissions

5. Opt-Out

To opt out of analytics data collection, select "Functional Only" on the cookie banner. This will prevent analytics cookies from being placed on your device. Strictly necessary cookies — those required to remember your preference — will still be set.

You may also use browser extensions designed to block analytics tracking, or enable the "Do Not Track" signal in your browser. We acknowledge and respect Do Not Track signals where they are present.

To reopen your cookie preferences at any time, use the Cookie Settings link in the footer.

6. Changes to This Policy

This Cookie Policy may be updated from time to time to reflect changes in the cookies we use or applicable regulatory requirements. The most recent revision date is shown at the top of this page. Continued use of oranev.info following any update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
